San Diego or Bust

revolution-sd-day-1-36

And bust we almost did. It took 9 hours to make a 5 hour trip with 4 trailers, 20 bikes, 3 SUV’s, and 35 some people but we made it to SD with only one incident.  Really who takes an out of town trip with no spare tire? It is not just a given that if you don’t have a spare you will get a flat 20 miles west of no where on a hill with no shoulder? Of course that is what will and did happen to one of the trailers. We finally rolled into town and got setteled in the hotel. We all headed out for dinner at the Sizzler. The club footed most of the bill so that made it possible for everyone to enjoy a really nice dinner after a long afternoon in the car on the road.

Some of us went out riding to the Gaslamp District Downtown after dinner and for a long ride along the cost. The next day me Terry and 8 other riders decided to got up to Hollywood to check out the walk of fame. The ride up was not bad. We had a great lunch at UWink where we ordered by touch screen and played games. The guys got cigars to commemorate the journey ad we tried to get some pictures with the Hollywood sign.

The ride back was a whole nother story. It started off well we hit the PCH near Hunnington Beach and rode down to Newport Beach. We decided there we should head back to the 5 because it was getting late and the temp was droping. Well then my Ipod decided to die and with no music and nothing to take my mind off it, my butt started hurting. By the time we got on the freeway it was really hurting. The sign said San Diego 58 miles. A few minutes later I look over and see Sunshyne snuged up on Dez sleep on the back of the bike. I don’t know how she didn’t fall off. We were doing about 90 mph so I figured it wont take to long. After what seemed like 30 minutes the next sign said San Diego 42 miles and then the trouble began. I felt like I was sitting on a bed of nails and every bumb sent an electric shock to my butt. By the time we got to our exit I was so happy to see it that I decided to name my next kid Rosecranz. By the time we pulled up to the hotel and got off the bike, my legs and butt were done for. Everyone was limping after that marathon trip. I’m convinced my butt will never be the same again. Needless to say it will be a hot minute before I ride on a bike. Even thought it was only 7:30 I went promptly to the room and crashed till about 3 am.

Swimming Lessons

Swim UPDATE 4.16

Swim Lesson 4/16 - 28

The girls are steadily improving with their swimming lessons. They are learning the backstroke, breast stroke, and butterfly stroke. They are building up their endurance and start of the lesson by swimming 100 yards. Raven is still really hesitant to put her face in the water all the way initially but is working it out by the end of the lesson. She is more skittish when I am there watching so I try to stay uninvolved and let the teacher teach her.  Deyjah is Deyjah and doing her best to master all strokes. She is currently working on swimming the whole 100 yards with out stopping. Mykalah starts strong but is trying to work on going in a straight line.

Kamaria and I are wondering how they could swim when its so cold. But I guess thats kids for you. When we were little and taking swimming lessons at Mt Baker beach, the swim lesson sign up sheet said rain or shine. So even though it was raining, Carthell, Kamaria and I showed up for swim lessons. I remember the lifeguard looking at us with death in his eyes as he had to leave the cozy lifegurad station and go in the cold as lake and give us our 45 min swim lesson. LOL Im sure he still curses us till this day.

Spring Break @ SeaWorld

Here are a few Pictures from Sea World. Raven Terry and I had a great time. Raven was a spaz from the second we reached the Sharaton hotel that overlooked the San Diego Bay.

Pre Road Trip

seaworld-2k9-022

The first night we got into to we headed downtown to check out the Gaslamp District. The area was pretty busy when we got there about 8 pm, after we ate dinner and saw the movie Race to Witch Mountain it was even busier. There were lots of cool bars and unique cafes. Definitely a place to check out with out kids.

The next morning we were on a mission to find breakfast spot the Terry said was the best he ever had. After about an hour of driving around crowded streets in search of this mystery diner I had to call off the hunt. We ended up at a place called DayBreak Cafe which had a good breakfast.

Finally we were on our way to SeaWorld.  Raven would not stand still till we got in side and she did not where to look.  She was dying to see Shamu. I was the only one who had been there before but a lot had changed since I brought Jeremy when he was 8.

Terry went on his first Roller Coaster ride, Raven touched a starfish, I touched a ray. The ray tried its best to splash us becaue we did not have food for it. The Shamu show was the highlight of course but the shark encouncter came in a close second. The two rides both ended up in us getting pretty wet.

Raven was soaked and I had to buy her new pants when we got to Mission Beach. We spent a little time at the shore then headed to Saskas for fantastic steak dinner.

The next day we spent the morning at Seaport Village were we picked up some lunch and fresh Kangols. We reattempted our wondering to try to find the so called breakfast spot to no avail. We did find a great view overlooking  of the Pacific Ocean and played there for a while. Later we went back to Mission Beach so Raven could put her feet in the water. Of course she all but rolled in the sand and I had to give her water bottle wash down strip her before letting her back in the car.

We all had a great time hanging out. Can’t wait for the next vacation.

Like Mother Like Daughter…

Raven decided that she too wanted a new haircut. She wanted to get hers like mine but something tells me that she would regret that. But still she did get enough cut to donate to Locks Love. Check out my cutie! (She struck that pose on her own, don’t blame me!)

Before I got my hair cut

Before I got my hair cut

After 25 years of being fried, dyed, and laid to the side, I decided that enough was enough and the hair had to go.

I love it. It feels great. I feel good and should have done it sooner. I thought I was going to cry when it was getting cut but instead I smiled the whole time. Shelby, who cut my hair, was a little scared to get in to these naps. I had to take the comb and get through the kitchen or we would have been there all night. LOL Once she got started with the clippers it was a done deal. I just wanted it over with. I love to touch my hair now. It was longer then I thought it would be and snaped back to tight little curls after I washed it.

Almost Done!

Almost Done!

I always looked with envy at those beautiful brave women who did not have to fight with their hair every day and just let it grow naturally. I’m not knocking on relaxers there were plenty of times when you can not tell me nothing. Now I hope to have more of those days with out the effort. All you ladies know when your hair looks good, your shit don’t stink. You could be at Wal-Mart at 3 in the afternoon with crust in your eye and baby puke on your shirt and if your hair is did you switch on and dare somebody to say something.

So what comes next who knows. I may go Angela Davis, I may decided to keep it short. For now I am looking forward to the summer.

She Is Still My Little Ladybugy

Raven Sleeping

I know you parents can relate to this, Raven fell asleep on me while I was watching TV. She is has not done that in a long time. She was watching TV in my room then came out about at 1:30am talking about she was bored because there was nothing to do in my room. LOL Crazy girl. I don’t know what she thought she should be doing in the dead of night. Anyway she laid down on me and fell asleep while I finished my movie. Raven is getting so big that I cherish these little moments that remind me that she is still my baby.

Happy Valentines Day

Me and Terry Champagne toast

Terry semi surprised me with a early morning hot air balloon ride. I say semi because he thought the guy would not call him back and he told me about it, then the guy confirmed it at the last minute. But either way it was fantastic and I was able to  check off another item off the Bucket List.  We went from Higley all the way over to Ellsworth. I tried to convince the pilot to go a little further and land in my back yard!  We surprised a lot of people who thought we were going to crash since the pilot was flying so low between houses and neighborhoods. We were able to talk to some of the people on the ground who came runningout in the robes and roller with camera to see what they thought would be an impending crash.

The ride ended with a champagne toast and cheesecake. Later that evening we made our way to the Kilt for dinner and dancing.
